Antibody Detection Test for SARS-CoV-2

The Affidea Diagnostic Centers Group performs antibody detection tests for SARS-CoV-2 at all the Group’s Diagnostic Centers in Greece, as well as nationwide through the External Services Department.

This is a hematological test for detecting IgG and IgM antibodies, which determines if the patient has been infected with SARS-CoV-2 and now has antibodies against the virus, or if further testing is needed.

The antibody detection test is conducted for epidemiological purposes, not for diagnostic purposes. This method is not suitable for diagnosing the disease during its acute phase.

A fundamental requirement for performing the antibody detection test is that the patient should not be febrile and should not have had any flu-like symptoms in the last 15 days.

During the blood draw, all precautionary measures are followed for both the phlebotomists and the patients. The test is optionally performed by appointment within the diagnostic units and is available to all age groups.

The results are sent within two business days from the day the blood draw is performed. To protect public health and avoid crowding, Affidea recommends the electronic transmission of results.
