Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

What for

At Affidea, by using state-of-the-art MRI machines and the expertise of our specialized doctors, we ensure detailed and high-resolution images for immediate and accurate diagnosis.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive medical imaging technique used to produce detailed images of both the anatomy and physiology of the human body.

A highly accurate image can be created using an advanced device equipped with a very powerful magnet and a variety of specialized coils that emit and receive radiofrequency waves, which interact with hydrogen atoms within the body. MRI can be used to examine almost any part of the body, with common applications including the brain, joints, and spinal discs.

MRI scanners with a strong magnetic field of 1.5 Tesla offer very high precision, reduce examination time to one-eighth of that required by older machines, significantly lower noise levels, and provide greater comfort for the patient.

MRI scanners are capable of imaging for neurological, orthopedic, vascular, oncological, urological, and cardiological examinations. With ongoing advancements in their capabilities, they can also offer specialized exams such as breast MRI, prostate imaging, tractography, and perfusion studies.

During an MRI exam, the patient is not exposed to ionizing radiation.

It is recommended to contact the diagnostic center beforehand for preparation details, as requirements may vary based on the patient's history.

Affidea's MRI Excellence Programme standardizes the way magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is performed across the network.

Affidea has developed software that remotely monitors MRI systems, allowing us to "learn" from the centers that provide the best services and possess the high levels of expertise required for conducting MRI exams, and to replicate these practices across all our countries in a structured manner.

The MRI optimization program is the largest of its kind worldwide and offers a unique opportunity to benefit from "collective optimization" efforts. The reduction in scan time also positively impacts the patient experience, as it allows them to spend less time inside the MRI scanner, reducing feelings of claustrophobia or panic.
